Nominations

There are nomination requirements, which have to be put into consideration. These include:

• Nomination fees for various levels of elections
• Requirements for candidates to apply for leave before nomination
• Requirement for signatures of supporters of the nomination
• Requirements for qualification of candidates(Specific levels of academic qualifications for different levels of elections)
• Guidelines, materials/ and personnel

Establishment and Mandate of the Electoral Commission

The Electoral Commission is established under Article 60 and mandated under Article 61 of the Constitution of the Republic of Uganda 1995 (as amended) to organise, conduct and supervise regular, free and fair elections and referenda, among other functions. In order to fulfill its mandate, the Commission is guided by its mission and vision.

The Commission’s mission is to organise and conduct regular, free and fair elections and referenda professionally, impartially and efficiently; while its vision is to be a model institution and centre of excellence in Election Management.

Activities of the Electoral Commission

a) The National Voters’ Register on a continuous basis
b) The various registers for Special Interest Groups 
3. Producing and issuing voters’ cards;
